Letter from 100+ Families of Victims and Injured of Iran's National Uprising to World Leaders

To the Leaders and People of the World

We, the signatories of this letter, are victims and justice-seeking families whose loved ones and we ourselves took to the streets during national uprisings, including the three major uprisings of Dey 1396 (January 2018), Aban 1398 (November 2019), and the uprising of 1401 (2022), to protest against the authoritarian nature of the Islamic Republic and stand in solidarity with other segments of our nation. The regime's response to our protests was serious physical harm, including blinding or killing our loved ones with war bullets, and torturing and executing them in prisons with the hangman's noose.

Since coming to power, the Islamic Republic has spent the country's financial resources and capacities on creating infrastructure for repression and killing, instead of people's welfare and comfort. Domestically, it silences people through execution and repression; and abroad, it threatens global security through state terrorism, hostage-taking, warmongering through its proxy forces, production of long-range missiles, and efforts to obtain nuclear weapons.

Despite all this, the Iranian people (women, men, young and old) continue to protest and struggle for freedom and a dignified life despite bloody repression. Today, the Islamic Republic has no popular support due to its failure to provide welfare, widespread repression, and loss of social base, and its survival depends solely on bullets and repression.

This criminal regime now stands at the darkest point in its history; a point where people's daily lives are disrupted, and new crises from economic collapse to environmental crisis emerge every day. Iran is rapidly moving toward drought, which means new waves of forced migration—a danger that will directly threaten countries already grappling with the refugee problem. The main pieces of repression have been lost, and after the twelve-day war and Khamenei's hiding, its propaganda apparatus no longer works. However, through efforts to obtain nuclear weapons, the IRGC's terrorist network worldwide, and their proxy forces waging war in the region, they still pose a serious threat to global security and peace. Coordinated and comprehensive action must be taken to create global peace and security. Today, although late, there is still an opportunity to prevent greater dangers.

As the Iranian people continue their struggles inside Iran, the following actions by you will help peace and stability in the region and the world:

• Designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization, as the Australian government recently did.

• Cutting all diplomatic and economic relations that help legitimize this regime;

• Imposing comprehensive sanctions against the IRGC's financial, military, and cyber networks;

• Maximum and practical support for the Iranian people for transition to democratic governance.

The Iranian people have shed blood and stood firm. Now it is the turn of the international community to act for its own security. The struggle of the Iranian people will be recorded in history as a sacrifice for freedom and global security.
