Memorial ceremony for Khosrow Alikordi in Mashhad with the slogan "O Shah of Iran, return to Iran"

A grand memorial for the late Khosrow Alikordi was held on Friday, December 12th, in Mashhad with nationalistic and patriotic chants. Attendees repeatedly shouted the pro-Pahlavi slogans despite violence by government forces and attempts to disrupt the event.

The protest over the killing of Khosrow Alikordi, a celebrated lawyer for political prisoners who had recently been honored in his hometown Sabzevar, took place today in Mashhad with a larger crowd and more directly political slogans, including: "O Shah of Iran, return to Iran," "This is the national slogan: Reza, Reza Pahlavi," "Crown Prince, where are you? Come to our aid," "Long live the Shah," "The Shah will home; the despot will be overthrown," "This is not the last battle; Pahlavi will return," "Women, Life, Freedom," "Death to the dictator," "This fallen flower has become a gift to the homeland," "Iran without a Shah has no order," "This year is the year of return home; Seyyed Ali will be overthrown," "Fatemeh Sepehri must be freed," "By the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end," and "We are a great nation; we will reclaim Iran."

The regime's security forces’ violence could not silence the resolute voices of the people.

Prince Reza Pahlavi, in response to the people's bravery, emphasized in a video message: "I send greetings to all my dear compatriots, especially the noble people of Mashhad. I appreciate your courage and am grateful for your valuable support. Maintain your unity and solidarity and demand the unconditional release of all those detained at the memorial for the late Khosrow Alikordi. Victory is yours. I hope to see you soon in our beloved homeland."

Khosrow Alikordi, the lawyer for a number of plaintiffs—including the Adinehzadeh family—and for political prisoners such as Fatemeh and Mohammad Hossein Sepehri, was killed on December 6 in his office in Mashhad. Despite the Islamic Republic's intelligence agencies seizing recordings from surveillance cameras, eyewitnesses revealed that his lifeless body was found with a wound to the head and blood flowing from his mouth.

The government killing of Khosrow Alikordi is the latest example of the Islamic Republic's systematic killings. In recent months a number of Iranian nationalist and monarchist activists have been killed by this bloodthirsty regime.
