Hunger Strike of Mostafa Ramezani, Political Prisoner, in Support of Sick Political Prisoners

In the name of Iran

With warm greetings to the great nation of Iran and to all the honorable freedom-seekers — whether in chains or outside prison — who walk the path toward the greatness and prosperity of our beloved Iran, for solidarity and freedom.

On the fifth anniversary of the systematic killing of the immortal-named Baktash Abtin — who lost his life in Evin Prison due to the lack of timely medical care — and in remembrance of the immortal names before and after him who were killed in Iran's prisons, our concern for other elderly and sick political prisoners, who are so often the target of the regime's wrath, has grown greater than ever.

I consider it my duty that we not stay silent in the face of such crimes. Honorable individuals such as Madam Fatemeh Sepehri, the brave lioness of Iran, are a clear example of this crime. The life of this struggling woman is constantly under threat, and at present she is in a critical state of health.

To prevent this neglect of the condition of this sick prisoner, and in demand of the unconditional freedom of this brave lioness, from Wednesday, 27 Khordad 2585, I will go on a hunger strike for five days.

I remind you that a hunger strike is not suicide; it is the last resort of those who, on the road to freedom, have been pushed to the brink.

And I ask all freedom-seekers to extend special support to sick political prisoners, especially Madam Fatemeh Sepehri.
